Top Things To See and Do in Bohol, Philippines

little island of Bohol in the Philippines

The Philippines has so many beautiful islands that make great tourist spots to check out while on vacation. Among those many islands is
Bohol, a small island located in the Visayas region. Though tiny, this little island of Bohol boasts of several natural beauty secrets that the world has yet to discover.

As soon as you set foot on the island of Bohol, tourists are going to see the friendly smiles that the locals have to offer, thus earning the city title of City of Friendship. Having been a colony of the Spaniards in the earlier years, the Boholanos have deeply rooted faith in their Catholicism. Throughout the island, one is going to see the different churches that the locals have preserved to this day.

In Baclayon, you can find the oldest church in the country which is called the Baclayon Church. From the outside, it may look like it has seen a lot through the years but from the inside, one could see how much the locals have tried their very best to preserve the antiquity of this sacred place. Tourists from far and wide flock to check out this old church that has aged but which has aged in beauty.

The beaches in Bohol are greatly visited by tourists due to the naturally fine, white sand that line the shore. Class A resort have now been sprouting around Panglao, the beach hub of tourists, in this little island province. If you take a motorcycle, you could go around Panglao and get a glimpse of all the resorts that line the shores of Bohol. These beaches are not only lauded for their enticing fine, white and sandy beaches but also because of the cleanliness of the shores.

Tourism is booming in this island province not because of some man-made resort but due to the natural resources that were well-preserved by the Boholanos even through time. Driving over to Carmen, tourists will definitely have a sight to see. You could find the numerous Chocolate Hills that turn green during the sunny days while brown during rainy seasons. All 1,268 hills are scattered around the locale and are great to view from above.

One unique attraction that the Boholanos developed is the Floating Restaurant found in Loboc, Bohol. Amassing the riverbanks are the Floating Restaurants that allow people to enjoy the ride with an array of eat-all-you-can buffet. A table laden with delectable native Filipino dishes with a touch of local finishes plus a merry music playing in the background and a view of the natural beauty of Loboc, there is nothing more you can ask for.

Going on a river cruise at night is a bit different from the river cruise in the morning or in the afternoon because of the fascinating lights that were added around the riverbanks to add to the calming and serene ambiance of the environment. People from different walks of live are surely going to enjoy hopping on the Floating Restaurant.

Endemic in the island of Bohol, you could find the little primate called the Tarsier. With its big bulging eyes, you can see how queer but cute they are. More of these creatures may be found in Leyte but these creatures were always known to have been found in Bohol. Take pictures with these little things as long as you are not going to make use of those flashes from your camera or camera phones.

Danao Ecotourism Adventure Park, Bohol

The Filipinos have always been cheerful people, but they have also been lovers of adventure. In Danao, there stands an Adventure Park which caters to different thrill-seeker’s needs. From the now popularized Zipline Adventure to exploring caves and taking the Plunge, people looking for adventure are going to love to visit this part of Bohol.

Although an island in itself, Bohol also has smaller islands around it. From Panglao, you can see 3 small islands from the shore. These islands are the islands called Pamilacan, Balicasag and Virgin Island. People could go island hopping on these 3 islands and watch the dolphins and whales playing around out in the open sea. In just a few minutes ride on a pump boat, you are going to reach each of these islands. With an option of snorkeling or scuba diving, divers and tourists are going to enjoy the underwater sights in the islands.

There is so much more you can do in Bohol. These are just a few of the things that you could opt to go for when visiting the province. When you have time, you should come and visit the beauty that a simple island could offer.
