Garden Route

One proof of the incredible coastline that is found in South Africa is the Garden Route. It is a very scenic stretch on the south-eastern coast of South Africa starting at Mossel Bay and finishing at Storms River.

The Garden Route is home to dolphins, seals and endangered Southern Right Whale because of the ten different nature preserves that surround it. In addition to the marine life, about 300 species of beautiful multi-colored birds live here as well.

However, if you ever wanted to know how it feels like to ride an ostrich, this is the place to be. Oudtshoorn is the Ostrich Capital of South Africa. In fact, many of the hotels in town offer ostrich eggs for breakfast which are naturally bigger and richer in flavor. Meat eaters may also want to try ostrich sausages and steaks which are also readily available.

Although Oudtshoorn may be popular for its ostriches, they are also known for its great scenery. Cyclists are surely going to like the view as well as those people who are looking forward to relax after the madness of Cape Town.
